The Jana Sena think-tanks are said to be busy looking for a safe seat for its chief Pawan Kalyan. The party wants to ensure that the result of the 2019 assembly elections, wherein Pawan Kalyan lost from both the seats he contested from to repeat in 2024. In 2019, Pawan lost from both Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka seats.
Now the party wants him to concentrate only on one constituency and do a proper groundwork there. Party sources say that Pawan Kalyan could contest from Kakinada, which has a significant Kapu population. He hopes to win from the city. Sources say that the Jana Sena has already begun the ground work in the city.
There are two assembly constituencies in Kakinada. The Kakinada rural is represented by minister Kurasala Kannababu, who is a Kapu and has a Praja Rajyam connect. He was first elected an MLA on Praja Rajyam ticket.
The Kakinada Urban seat is represented by Jagan’s close associate Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy, a two-time MLA. Jana Sena wants Pawan to contest from this seat.
Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan has been methodically targeting Dwarampudi. IN his recent speeches, he talked about the garbage tax in Kakinada. He has attacked the MLA in a pointed manner.
All this shows that Pawan has his intent clear on contesting from Kakinada urban. Jana Sena sources say that things could become clearer soon and an announcement is expected at the earliest.
