Jagan Announces Rs 1 Cr for Kin of Deceased in ‘Chemical Disaster’

11 people, including two children, have died while about 300 are hospitalised after a gas leakage from LG Polymers chemical plant in RR Venkatapuram village, Visakhapatnam, in Andhra Pradesh today.

Footages of the incident show people lying on Vizag’s roads near the site, possibly unconscious. Many are being carried into ambulances, and people rushing in to help.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered a detailed enquiry into the gas leak. Special CS, Secretary Industries, Secretary PCB, Collector, CP will be in the team.

All expenses related to the Vizag gas leak will be borne by the Andhra Pradesh government, 15,000 people in and around the plant will be given Rs 10,000 financial help.

The Andhra Pradesh government will be providing Rs 25,000 to those who received primary care treatment due to the Vizag gas leak. Those who received 2-3 days of treatment will get Rs 1 lakh, and those on ventilator support to be given Rs 10 lakh.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced Rs 1 crore compensation for each family which faced a casualty due to the Vizag gas leak.
