AP Chief Minister YS Jagan has now decided to focus on his MLAs and MPs. Till now, Jagan’s focus was mainly on governance and effective delivery of the welfare schemes. But, with elections just two years away, Jagan has decided to focus on the MLAs and MPs. This became amply clear when he addressed the MLAs ahead of the AP Assembly’s budget session.
He asked the legislators to focus only on their constituencies. He asked them to stay in their respective constituencies and reach out to the people. He told the MLAs that he would soon hold a meeting of all the party legislators. He said that MLAs Kethireddy Venkatrami Reddy (Dharmavaram), Roja (Nagari), Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy (Nellore) and Kakani Govardhan Reddy were regularly in touch with their constituency and voters. However, several other MLAs are not in touch with their constituency, he said.
It may be recalled that Jagan got a detailed survey conducted on the performance of his MLAs and MPs. The survey reports showed that several MLAs are out of touch with their constituencies. To add to the woes, there is no coordination between the MPs and the MLAs. Also, rampant groupism is hitting the party at the root. Post this report, Jagan has decided to focus on the MLAs and their performance.
Several MLAs have been hoping for a minister’s position in view of the upcoming cabinet rejig. However, Jagan is said to have told them to focus on their constituencies first. He told the MLAs that the performance of the MLAs and the MPs is below par.
