The Kapu community is about to suffer in Andhra Pradesh is about to suffer terribly, as the reservation that they were privy to, until recently, is about to be taken away from them. The Chandrababu Naidu government allocated 5% of the 10% Economically Backward Class reservation that the Central government allotted to those who are suffering economically, irrespective of their caste.
As the Central government had given the state governments the freedom to make the necessary changes in this bill, the TDP government thought of it to be the perfect opportunity to create more reservations for the Kapu community. After the Jagan government came into power though, they haven’t implemented this rule.
The AP government announced that it would be giving reservations for the upper caste poor people in its next job calendar, and not the current one that was released recently. However, given that there’s wide speculation that there aren’t many job opportunities in the state right now, everyone is worried about the reservation that the AP government announced.
On the other hand, with the news that the Kapu community won’t anymore be the beneficiary of the reservation that the Chandrababu government put in place, the community is about to get hit very badly. All the leaders of the Kapu community, who raised slogans in favour of the community during the 2019 elections, aren’t saying a word right now, which is causing the people of the community to worry a lot.
