Every Chief Minister in the country, who doesn’t belong to the BJP, is withdrawing general consent, and is blocking CBI investigations in their state. However, there is one non-BJP Chief Minister, who is still favoring CBI investigations, and it is Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Fact remains that letting CBI investigate any case in the state would affect Jagan on a personal and political level as well, given that he is himself stuck in the midst of many cases. And yet, for some unknown reason, the CM doesn’t seem afraid of any CBI investigations in the state. The CBI is currently at a high point in the investigation of YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case, and there are several other CBI cases that are going on in the state.
Nara Chandrababu Naidu had also withdrawn general consent, and blocked CBI investigations in the state, when he was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, in the last tenure. Even then, Jagan had opposed that idea, and now too, he is letting the investigations go on as is, without any sort of interference from the government.
Many political members are wondering at the possible reasons behind Jagan not opposing CBI investigations in the state, and what his play might be, with respect to this.
