In a surprise move that caught the political analysts and politicians by surprise, prominent BC activist R Krishnaiah has been given the YSRCP ticket to contest for the Rajya Sabha. His victory is a foregone conclusion in view of the absolute majority that the YSRCP has in the AP Assembly.
Now it has been confirmed that he would be sent to Rajya Sabha on YSRCP ticket. R Krishnaiah met CM Jagan’s advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy at Tadepalli on Tuesday. Later, R Krishnaiah thanked YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for reposing faith in him and for making him a Rajya Sabha member.
R Krishnaiah was the face of BC politics in the Telugu states and worked to protect the interests of the BCs at large. He was made an MLA from LB Nagar on TDP ticket in 2014. However, he soon parted company with the TDP and remained an unattached member. He was considered quite close to YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Since then, he has been involved in BC related affairs and has been hobnobbing with all major parties, including the BJP and the YSRCP.
But, in a move that caught everyone unawares. YSRCP chose R Krishnaiah for the Rajya Sabha vacancy. Four Rajya Sabha seats are falling vacant by June 21. The outgoing MPs are Sujana Chowdary, TG Venkatesh, Suresh Prabhu and Vijayasai Reddy.
