YSRCP chief, and Andhra Pradesh Chief MInister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been very keen on winning in Kuppam, in the 2024 elections, and he and his party members have been doing everything they can to make sure this happens. They also, naturally, want to retain their power in all the constituencies they won in the 2019 elections.
Alla Ramakrishna Reddy won as the MLA from Mangalagiri in the 2019 elections, having won over Lokesh from TDP. It is to be noted that Lokesh lost with just a difference of 8000 votes. Considering that Lokesh has been visiting the constituency at every opportunity since 2019, despite losing the elections and meeting with as many people as he can, one cannot rule out the possibility of Lokesh having a good chance to win in the 2024 elections.
On the other hand, strong sentiments against Alla have been brewing n the constituency, with the general word being that no one is satisfied with the way the MLA is dealing with the constituency. As a result, it is being said that until and unless Jagan manages to replace Alla with a very strong candidate, it is highly unlikely that the YSRCP would return to power in Mangalagiri in 2024, with Lokesh having the highest probability of winning.
