The burning of the Antarvedi Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple Chariot sent a shock wave all over Andhra Pradesh, with devotees expressing their anger and concern towards the incident. Several politicians have also expressed their views on the incident, and have said that this is no accident, and that it was a deliberate action against the Hindu religion.
Opposition leader, Chief of TDP, Chandrababu Naidu has said this is not the first atrocity against the Hindu religion in the last one year, and has added that several temples and God’s idols have been attacked in various temples all over the state. Chandrababu has said that it cannot be a mere coincidence that this is all happening during Jagan’s rule in the state.
Jagan’s government has finally responded to the incident, and has allotted Rs. 95 Lakhs for the reconstruction of the chariot. The construction of the chariot is to be completed by February 2021, so that future processions of the Lord may not be interrupted.
On the other hand, East Godavari District Collector Muralidhar Reddy has formed a committee consisting officials of endowments, fire, police and revenue officials to take up damage control measures. The government too is trying its best to control the damage as much as possible.
Furthermore, the YSRCP government has stated that the burning of the chariot was a result of anti-social elements and people, who are trying to pin this incident on the YSRCP government. Additionally, police officials have house-arrested BJP leaders for safety purposes, keeping in mind the protests that broke out yesterday.
