The decision of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to rename NTR health university after his father and former chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy has erupted a controversy in the state. TDP leaders and the fans of the legendary actor and former CM opposed the move, dubbing it as a disrespect to NT Rama Rao.
Now, NTR’s grandson Jr. NTR responded to this issue as well. Taking to his Twitter handle, the RRR actor said the YSRCP government’s actions don’t elevate the image of late YSR. Stating that both YSR and NTR were great leaders, the Temper actor mentioned that no one could erase the memory of NTR from the minds of the Telugu people.
“By taking down one’s name and naming it after YSR, does not raise his stature, nor does it lower the stature of NTR. By removing the name of NTR from the health university, no one can erase the fame he earned, his place in the history of Telugu people, or his memories among the hearts of the Telugu masses,” Jr NTR tweeted in Telugu.
On the other side, several other leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI (M) also opposed CM Jagan’s move.
