The Kanaka Durga flyover in Vijayawada has finally been completed and virtually today inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
This flyover is a very important one for the people of Vijayawada, considering that it will play an important role in easing the congestion of traffic, and constant traffic jams on the National Highway, which passes by the Durga temple. This flyover curves along the Indrakeeladri hill, atop which the prestigious Kanaka Durga temple is located.
A lot of traffic keeps weaving through Vijayawada, from Hyderabad, and from Chennai as well. As a result, the people of Vijayawada experience a lot of jams near the Kanaka Durga temple, making the traffic situation unbearable. Now, this traffic problem is expected to be solved with the flyover finally ready to be used.
Works on the flyover began way back in 2010, but there was an exceptional delay, because of which things didn’t speed up until 2015. The TDP government is understandably taking credit for this flyover, saying that 70% of the work on the flyover was completed in their regime. The YSRCP is also taking credit, saying that they made sure the flyover is completed on time, in their regime. The BJP is also taking credit, saying that it is because of their Central Government that the flyover has been able to get completed on time, and properly.
The flyover starts from Bhavanipuram and runs by the Krishna river, Kanaka Durga Hill Temple and over the Buckingham canal to land on the highway near Pandit Nehru Bus Station near the Prakasam barrage.
