The Central government declared that vaccine doses would have to be bought and that they wouldn’t be free for the people of the country. This caused a lot of uprising, as many wouldn’t be able to afford the price of the vaccine for both doses.
Despite the fact that the vaccines are not being given out for free, several state governments have announced that vaccines would be free for the people of their state. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced this, and now, Telangana Chief Minister KCR has joined the list. He said that the vaccine would be free for all falling in the age group of 18 and 45.
So far, 30 lakh people have been vaccinated in Telangana, and from May 1st, the entire population of Telangana would start getting vaccinated. It would cost Rs. 2500 Crores for the state government to give out free vaccination, but the government is going ahead with its decision.
KCR is already said to have given out the necessary orders to give out free vaccination, to the concerned officials, CS, and other health officials. KCR is said to be personally heading the vaccination drive team, by appointing a district head to take care of the vaccination and make sure that everyone is vaccinated. Apart from AP and Telangana, even the government of Haryana announced free vaccines.
