Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had recalled the mental agony he faced when he heard the spate of suicides committed by poor weavers during the Telangana moment in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
It was two occasions he burst into tears unable to control emotions. He was very much saddened with the death of 11 weavers, who took the extreme step as they fell in debt trap, in Siricilla in Karimnagar district. He was then the MP of Karimnagar Lok Sabha. He immediately collected Rs50 lakh as donations and rescued the distressed weaving community.
The other incident was seven weavers committed suicide On a single day in Pochampalli. As he had not have enough financial resources, KCR said he did labour work and collected money which has been given to the bereaved families. The chief minister narrated these personal experiences at a meeting with weavers community.
