What KCR Discussed About Polavaram Project?

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s efforts in creating a Front with regional parties began with a meeting of Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik. During his discussion with Patnaik recently, KCR had discussed on the Polavaram Project issue which the Odisha Government has been opposing.

The Odisha Chief Minister, in a recent letter, had requested the Prime Minister to stop the Polavaram work until all the pending issues are resolved. He had earlier told the Government of India that if the project is allowed without the resolution of pending issues, it will cause permanent injury to the people of Odisha and the state and, may also lead to significant submergence in Odisha, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.

However, following Odisha CM’s objection, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had assured that all the requests made by the Odisha Government and other states involved will be taken into consideration so that there is no loss for these states.

According to inside reports, KCR is trying to rake up the issue of state’s differences on Polavaram which could affect the Polavaram’s progress at the current pace. It is believed that if Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Telangana together raise objections, the PMO may respond and issue orders to stop work related to the project.

Given that TDP and BJP ties are already broken and that KCR is trying to project himself as BJP’s saviour without openly associating his party with the NDA government, the Polavaram issue might put AP in a dire situation by cornering TDP Chief Chandrababu locally and nationally.
