Giving a big surprise to all Chief ministers in the country, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced a big scheme targeting to lure the majority farming community ahead of 2019 elections in the state. From next year onwards, all 55 lakh farmers will get fertilizers and Urea free of cost to cultivate their lands without any financial burden.
Following increasing incidence of suicides by poor farmers due to debt burden, KCR informed the farmers associations at the meeting in his camp office that 24 lakh to 26 lakh tonnes of fertilizers will be supplied free of cost during Rabi and Kharif seasons to the identified farmers. Sufficient funds will be earmarked in 2018-2019 budget for the supply of fertilizers.
The Chief Minister said his government had fulfilled the promise of waiver of loans taken by the farmers. Now, government targeted to upliftment of farming community and save them from taking extreme steps.
