Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Washington DC was defaced by a group of protesters who had rallied in support of farmers
protest in India against three agricultural laws.Hundreds of Sikhs from the Greater Washington DC area, Maryland, Virginia and other states like New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina, on Saturday carried out a car rally to the Indian Embassy, in support to Indian farmers protest.
The Indian Embassy condemned the mischievous act by hooligans masquerading as protesters. It alleged the involvement of “Khalistani elements” in the scene since separatist flags were showed up in protest.
The Embassy said it has taken up the matter with the Department of State for an investigation and action against the culprits under the applicable law.
