Chinnari, the 14-month baby who had fallen into an open bore well in Ranga Reddy district on Thursday, was pulled out dead this morning.
Besides police, the fire department, a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and ONGC personnel were involved in the almost 58-hour long rescue operations, which sadly failed to save the baby’s life.
Cyberabad police Commissioner and minister Mahender Reddy, speaking to media, declared the baby dead. They called off the rescue operation at around 6 am this morning after the baby’s remains were pulled out.
The little girl was playing with her elder sister when she accidentally slipped into the nearly 450-feet-deep bore well at Ekkareddyguda village in Chevella mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The incident happened at around 7.15 pm on Thursday and the efforts to rescue her started as early as from 8 pm. After 58 hours of efforts, her remains were retrieved this morning, said police.
The child’s remains were sent to postmortem to ascertain her death. Meanwhile, the Cyberabad police registered a case against the land owner under IPC section 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others).
