President Pranab Mukherjee made a stentorian yet gentle speech in Hyderabad recently during the unveiling of the book “Uniki” written by Maharashtra Governor and BJP senior leader from Telangana, CH Vidyasagar Rao. Addressing the gathering including Telangana CM KCR, Pranab said, “I take the opportunity to pay tribute to the leaders who have struggled to establish independent Telangana almost immediately after independence and finally seeing their dream coming to reality.

Undivided Andhra Pradesh from where Telangana was carved out and now the successor AP, both the states walk in harmony for the betterment of people of this country. Because, this is very important region. Particularly, Hyderabad city is very important. It’s not just state headquarters or capital city, but it’s something more.

Cyber City, Hitec City, competence of the modern day civilization, Information Technology began with Hyderabad. Hyd has national importance. Many problems would arise when a state is formed from existing one. I cannot and should not share my views on the important issue. Since I’m personally associated in dealing the issue from longtime, I’d like to give only one suggestion.

We shall have to learn one lesson. In our domestic relations and all international relations, we can choose our friends but we can’t choose our neighbours. Our neighbours are going to stay forever. We may like it or may not like it. But it’s for us to decide.

Whether we should live with our neighbours in peace, harmony or in perpetual tension. Choice is ours. And that is the lesson of history. One of the most important commandment of Christ was “Love Thy Neighbour”. Therefore, my appeal to all concerned would be. Now it’s reality. Telangana has come to exist.

Telangana, Andhra and all other bordering states, what can prose harmony. Because we belong to India. And in working with close harmony, we’ll ensure our sustainable development which is the desire for which Prime Minister is taking number of initiatives. Clean India, Digital India, Make in India…all these are absolutely necessary for nation.

For us to have rightful place in the community of nations, if we want to have it and which is legitimate to us, But we can have it only. If we were in close cooperation and atmosphere of peace, tranquility, understanding of harmony, nothing can resist us.

We can fulfill all our cherished goals and achieve our rightful place in the community of nation. Thank you ladies and gentlemen for giving me the opportunity to share my perception.” Pranab ended his stunning speech with the word “Jai Hind”. Thus he sent strong message to the both CMs of AP and Telangana that they should live in peace, harmony.
