More than 10 days after prominent Telugu television channel TV5 telecast a report indulging in a virtual character assassination of Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, widow of legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N T Rama Rao, she lodged a complaint with the police.
While a person by name Koti claiming to be a follower of Lakshmi Parvathi lodged a complaint with Vinukonda police in Guntur district, she chose to approach Telangana director general of police M Mahender Reddy.
Apparently, Lakshmi Parvathi felt it appropriate to file the case in Telangana, seeking action against the channel, as it headquartered in Hyderabad and had telecast Koti’s interview from the Telangana capital.
The report projected her in a bad light – that she is a woman without character, sex maniac and above all, she had no loyalty towards NTR.
The channel also highlighted the so-called WhatsApp messages allegedly given by Lakshmi Parvathi to Koti.
It also broadcasted an audio having a purported conversation between her and another person, in which she allegedly made derogatory comments against NTR.
She alleged that Koti was spreading derogatory and humiliating messages about her in the social media.
“I treated him like my own son and I never expected that he would resort to such cheap tactics, damaging my reputation. There is a big conspiracy behind it. I demanded the DGP to take action against Koti and also the channel which telecast it live,” Lakshmi Parvathi said.
But one failed to understand why she took 10 days to lodge a complaint against Koti and the channel. Had she come out in the open immediately, it would have caused huge damage to the TDP.
May be, she felt humiliated and went into a shell. Now that the elections are over, she might have mustered courage and decided to expose the TDP.
