Ever since the shameful defeat to the Modi-led NDA alliance in the 2014 elections, the Congress party’s think tank has been desperately trying to find ways to counter NDA. In its latest move to gain support against BJP before the 2019 elections, Congress has been reaching out to several national parties.
However, Congress’ desperate situation is being exploited by certain parties and one of them is the Uttar Pradesh’s ruling party Samajwadi Party. At the recently held Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, Samajwadi Party leader and UP CM Akhilesh Yadav gave a huge shock to Congress.
Akhilesh said that his party is ready to support Congress in the 2019 elections but only on two conditions. Akhilesh said that his father and Samajwadi Party’s Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav must be made the Prime Minister of India and Rahul Gandhi should only get the Deputy PM post.
This came across as a huge jolt to Congress which has been hoping to revive its strength under Rahul’s leadership.
