Congress scion Rahul Gandhi, who is considered to be next Prime Minister of India in case if Congress takes charge of the country any sooner, has once again hurt Telugu people with his priorities. While he never spoke about Telugu pride or the way they dealt bifurcation, he’s now interested in Tamil films.
Apparently, Rahul too voiced his opinion through his official ‘office’ twitter handle. A while ago, the tweet has come, “Mr. Modi, Cinema is a deep expression of Tamil culture and language. Don’t try to demon-etise Tamil pride by interfering in Mersal”. In the wake of many BJP ministers and Tamil BJP leaders demanding few scenes related to GST and Corporate Medical system to be removed from Mersal movie, Rahul’s comments garnered interest.
It is quite clear and evident that Rahul wants to support Vijay in this case as the star hero is most likely to step into politics. Who wants to miss a probable good ally for the near future? But the Congress scion’s tweet is not going well with Telugu people.
Mr. Gandhi, you never spoke about those Telugu films that succumbed to political pressure. “You’re never worried about those Andhraites who felt sad and cheated with bifurcation. While you could see Tamil pride in a movie, how could you be blinded on the plight of residual Andhra Pradesh state that is stripped of income sources, assets, infrastructure and a capital?”, asked some social media folks.
Isn’t Rahul move looking like playing opportunistic politics rather than being constructive? On the flip side, despite Telugu people giving immense support to BJP, the lotus party hasn’t done enough both to AP and Telangana. That’s another fact.
