Ahead of the start of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL), fans of the Chennai Super Kings franchise and other fans faced an unexpected shock as the yellow army Chennai Super Kings is not going to be the same team that it has been over the years.
Giving a small heart attack to the fans, Mahendra Singh Dhoni had stepped down as the skipper and he had handed over his Baton to rock star Ravindra Jadeja. Despite losing the captaincy, Dhoni will represent the team for the forthcoming season.
The CSK management took to Twitter to share the news. Confirming the transfer of captaincy, the management said that Dhoni had decided to step down as the skipper and Ravindra Jadeja was picked by him as his replacement to lead the team.
“MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of CSK & picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent CSK this season and beyond,” the management said in the official release.
Over the past few days, a discussion has been doing rounds on who might be the replacement of Dhoni for CSK. Putting a full stop to the speculation, Dhoni handed over his captaincy to the left-handed batsman.
Jadeja is gearing up to take the big responsibility of fitting into the big shoes of Dhoni. Continuing the rich legacy left by Dhoni is not going to be an easy task. The CSK fans are hoping that he would take forward the success of the CSK franchise.
