Naidu’s Anti-BJP Front A Futile Exercise?

Even as Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has failed to muster much support to his anti-Congress, anti-Bharatiya Janata Party front of regional parties, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is also making a futile attempt to build up an anti-BJP front at the national level.

While Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee did not evince much interest in the federal front plan of KCR, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati have also made it clear that they have no interest in joining hands with the Congress party.

The SP and BSP came to an understanding in seat sharing in Uttar Pradesh for the ensuring Lok Sabha elections and expressed confidence that they would win majority of Lok Sabha seats in UP.“We got our maths right in the UP. We shall defeat the BJP. There is no need for the Congress,” Akhilesh Yadav said on Friday.

So, Naidu’s attempts to convince SP and BSP to join the grand alliance failed. Naveen Patnaik has already made it clear that he won’t join the alliance.Mamata also want to go it alone in West Bengal. JD (U) is unreliable, as it might dump Congress and join hands with the BJP any time. So, only DMK chief M K Stalin is left with Naidu.

The other smaller parties like NCP and National Conference are already with the Congress and there is no need for Naidu to make any special efforts. So, what is he trying to prove by making a hungama in Delhi saying he is bringing all parties under one umbrella against BJP?“It is just a show put-up. And once Naidu loses elections in AP, no other party will care about him,” a BJP leader said.
