TDP president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have come up with a new strategy to beat TRS in upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Telangana.
Chandrababu realised that TDP-Congress alliance will no longer work in Telangana after Mahakutami suffered humiliating defeat at the hands of TRS in recent Assembly polls.
Chandrababu strongly believes that TDP-Congress alliance in Assembly polls only helped KCR to flare up ‘Telangana sentiment’ and win elections with a thumping majority though TRS government’s performance was very poor in its first term and 40 sitting TRS MLAs were on the verge of defeat due to anti-incumbency against KCR’s government.
Chandrababu has now decided not to repeat this mistake in upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Babu has offered only to finance Congress candidates in Lok Sabha polls and does not want TDP-Congress alliance.
TDP is also not willing to contest any Lok Sabha seats in Telangana barring Malkajgiri and Khammam and ready to forego even these seats if the need arises to beat TRS.
Babu reportedly offered Rs 500 crore to fund Congress to beat TRS considering that this Lok Sabha polls are important for him as both Chandrababu and KCR are competing with each other to play ‘crucial role’ in national politics by bagging maximum number of Lok Sabha seats.
Babu’s strategy is to see that KCR loses majority of the seats in Lok Sabha polls and lose his importance in national politics.
Only time will tell how Chandrababu’s new strategy of ‘no alliance, only finance’ will work out in Telangana in Lok Sabha polls.
