Mumbai has once again proved to be a haven for drugs. The Bollywood film industry, already heavily criticized in the Sushant Singh case, is in for another shock. Leading TV actress Preetika Chauhan has been nabbed red-handed by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials spearheaded by zonal director Sameer Wankhede, while buying drugs.
Preetika was caught buying drugs from a 20-year-old man named ‘Faizal’ around 7pm on Saturday in the Machimar area of Versova. Police seized 99 grams of Ganja and marijuana from their possession.
Mumbai authorities have arrested a total of five people in connection with the purchase and sale of these drugs. Police later arrested a man named Deepak Rathore. Deepak is known to be a rowdysheeter. It is reported that Rathore has been supplying drugs for a long time to many high profile people in the Versova area. They are likely to be produced in the Killa Court in Mumbai.
Preetika is currently starring in the popular Hindi serial Savadhan, Devoke Dev Maharaj. Lodged under the NDPS Act, the actress and Faisal were produced before court and are detained by NCB till November 8.
The amount seized falls under the category of small quantity, which compels a fine of Rs 10,000 along with a year’s RI. Advocate Ayaz Khan, who represents the actress, asserted he would move court for bail.
