The Narcotics Control Bureau has been dealing the drug activities and drug peddling with an iron fist and busting the rackets across the nation. At regular intervals, the central agency is busting the rackets. The drug combating body released a report on the drugs busted in India across the nation in 2021.
The NCB Report 2021 placed Andhra Pradesh in the top place in terms of drug busting. While around seven lakh kilos of Cannabis were busted in the country in 2021, the majority of drugs were busted in Andhra Pradesh alone. More than 26 percent of drugs were found in Andhra alone.
Andhra Pradesh also topped the list in Hash oil with 18.15 Hash, 6.13 litres of Hash oil, and 3 LSD Blots caught in the state. Last year, as many as 1775 cases were filed in the state, while more than 4,000 people were arrested in connection with the cases.
Odisha also accounts for a good share of drugs busted in the nation last year. As many as 171713 kilos of drugs were busted in Odiahs. Combined, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha account for over 50 percent of the total amount of drugs seized in India in 2021 as per the NCB report.
Looking at the other states, BJP-ruled Gujarat is at the top place in heroin with 3334.96 kilos followed by Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya with 1337.29 and 501 kilos. Among the southern states. God’s Own Country Kerala topped the list with as many s 339.93 kilos of heroin.
It is no wonder that Andhra Pradesh accounted for the major share of drugs last year. At regular intervals, we saw authorities busting rackets in the state. During the Covid time too, a big racket was busted at the Andhra Pradesh-Maharashtra border.
Probably this is the first time, Andhra Pradesh recorded a big rise in drug busting activities. Even in the combined state, Andhra Pradesh did not see such a big rise. The state always had less presence of drug abuse and drug busting activities. But things went terribly wrong for the state and cannabis in big amount were seized in the state.
