NFH Survey In Telangana Sees Improvement In Sex Ratio


National Family Survey in Telangana on Saturday revealed that the state population has more girls than the boys. According to the 2015–16 survey, there were 1,007 women for every 1,000 men in the state, but that number has increased to 1,049, according to the latest survey.

Of these, 1,015 were women in towns and 1,070 in villages. The number of cesarean deliveries in the state has increased from 57.7 per cent five years ago to 60.7 per cent now. Of these, 64.3 per cent were in towns and 58.4 per cent in villages. In private hospitals, the number of cesarean deliveries has risen from 74.5 per cent five years ago to 81.5 per cent now. Cesarean deliveries in government hospitals have risen from 40.3 per cent five years ago to 44.5 per cent now.

The Neonatal Mortality Rate (NNMR) fell from 20 per 1000 live births in 2015-16 to 16.8 in 2019-20. Infant Mortality Rate fell from 27.7 per 1000 live births in 2015-16 to 26.4 in 2019-20. Similarly, the under-5 mortality is now 29.4 per 1000 live births of the total under-5 population which has improved from 31.7 in the previous survey.
