Andhra Pradesh SEC, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar met Governor of the state Bishwabhushan Harichandan to ensure smooth conduct of elections in AP.
He discussed with the Governor for about an hour. The SEC explained the steps they are taking to conduct Gram Panchayat elections in the state.
It is well known that there was a dispute between the government and the SEC over the conduct of the Panchayat elections. In this context, the SEC asked the Governor to direct the Government to fully cooperate in the elections.
The SEC is also reported to have briefed the governor on the disciplinary action being taken against officials who acted negligently in voter registration.
