Scrapping the company’s years long dress code which barred its employees from wearing casuals to work, the Indian IT giant Infosys finally announced that its employees can now wear smart business casuals to work. Earlier, the employees were allowed to wear casuals only on Fridays. The latest move was made to connect better with the young employees who are in early 20s and are freshly out of college.
This new decision has been taken by the company’s CEO Vishal Sikka, after several requests from thousands of his employees across the country. In a personal mail to all his employees, Vishal Sikka said, “From Monday, June 1, you can flaunt your smart business casuals all week long! This was a change that many of you had voiced and requested on various platforms, so we are really excited that it is official now!”
Until now, the company ordered its employees to wear ties and the officials and other administrative staff would wear Infosys monogram imprinted on their shirts. Infosys’ rivals like Wipro and TCS still follow a strict dress code and casuals are permitted only on Fridays. However, Cognizant, yet another IT major, scrapped its dress code around 2 years ago.
