In what can be called one of the biggest land scams in the country, a group of realtors in Hyderabad city in collusion with government officials have encroached government land worth nearly a whopping Rs 10,000 Crore at Miyapur, located in the heart of the city.
Nearly 600 acres of government land was registered in the name of some reputed realty companies owned by influential persons in the state. Based on a complaint lodged by Stamps and registration department, police arrested Kukatpally Sub Registrar Srinivas and the encroachers.
The modus operandi is the Registrar registered the govt. lands in the name of Private realty companies. The lands were already in litigation on the ownership in the courts. Even the stamp duty on land registration was not paid to the government so far but the property registration papers were issued to the land sharks. Police have started probing the case which stunned the entire realty industry.
