Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ has made history. This film will be etched in the history of Indian cinema forever. It won enormous international applause and bigwigs in Hollywood sang laurels about this massive flick. It showcased the power of Telugu films on a global stage. As we know, ‘Naatu Naatu’ song won the Oscar award and Golden Globe in the best original song category.
The visual of Keeravani and Chandrabose standing on the Oscar stage with awards in their hands is an unforgettable moment. Now, they got an even bigger recognition this year. While they were winners last year, they will be deciding who the winners are going to be at the Oscars 2023.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended 398 famous artists and executives to join the organization in 2023. It is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion and equity.
CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang said, “The Academy is proud to welcome these artists and professionals into our membership. They represent extraordinary global talent across cinematic disciplines, and have made a vital impact on the arts and sciences of motion pictures and on movie fans worldwide.”
The list includes five artists from ‘RRR’. DOP Senthil Kumar, music composer MM Keeravani, lyricist Chandrabose and actors NTR and Charan have found their names on this prestigious list. This is a bigger achievement than the Oscars. While legendary Mani Ratnam’s name is inevitable every time, it is a bit disappointing to not see Rajamouli’s name in this list as he is the man who made everything possible.
