As everyone knows, fans of superstar Mahesh Babu celebrated their matinee idol’s birthday in a grand manner. They arranged special shows of ‘Pokiri’ in over 200 screens across the Telugu states. This is reportedly the biggest re-release for any film till date.
As we know, ‘Pokiri’ which came out in 2006 was an industry hit and it is one of the most viewed movies on the small screen even today. While enjoying such an iconic film on the big screen again is very exciting, it ended up bringing losses to some theatre owners. As per a few pictures that surfaced on social media, a few fans of Mahesh Babu went out of control and tore the silver screens.
This is a nightmare situation for any theatre owner and replacing them would cost around 15 lakhs which is quite huge considering the severe dip in the theatre business nowadays. Also, this doesn’t shed a good light on star hero fans who keep asking for re-screening of their hero’s biggest hits time and again. There is news that Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Jalsa’ will be re-released and knowing the craze of Pawan, people are fearing about the situation at that time. Let us wait and see what happens.
Mahesh Babu’s last film ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ did not impress the fans completely despite becoming a decent success. This is the case with the last couple of Mahesh’s films. Everyone has high hopes for his next movie with Trivikram who gave classics like ‘Athadu’ and ‘Khaleja’ to Mahesh. Hope it satisfies the fans.
