Japan launches H2A rocket carrying information-gathering satellite
Tokyo, Sep 26 (IANS) Japan launched an H2A rocket carrying an information-gathering satellite on Thursday after two postponements due to bad weather.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. said the rocket lifted off from the Tanegashima Space Centre in the southwestern prefecture of Kagoshima at 02:24 p.m. local time, and the satellite was placed into its planned orbit.
The satellite is tasked to gather information concerning national security and assess damage during disasters, Xinhua news agency reported.
The rocket carrying the Japanese government’s eighth information-gathering radar satellite was initially planned to depart earlier this month but was postponed two times due to bad weather.
The operation of the H2A is expected to end in fiscal 2024 through next March with the launch of rocket No. 50. The next-generation H3 rocket is then set to replace it.

North Korea may conduct nuclear test after US election
Seoul, Sep 26 (IANS) North Korea may carry out its seventh nuclear test after the US presidential vote in November, South Korea’s spy agency was quoted as telling lawmakers Thursday.
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) made the assessment to the parliamentary intelligence committee, saying Pyongyang has other options, such as an intercontinental ballistic missile test, according to Rep. Lee Seong-Kweun of the ruling People Power Party and Rep. Park Sun-won of the main opposition Democratic Party.
The NIS also reported that the North possesses around 70 kilograms of plutonium and a significant amount of highly enriched uranium (HEU), which is sufficient to build a two-digit number of nuclear weapons.
The agency said the North appears to have the US election in mind when it disclosed an HEU facility for the first time earlier this month. The disclosure could also be targeted at instilling confidence in the domestic audience struggling with the country’s crippling economy, the NIS reported.
“Externally, it can be interpreted as a move conscious of the US ahead of its presidential election, while internally it appears to be an attempt to boost confidence among the population amid the extremely dire economic situation,” Lee said, Yonhap news agency reported.
Earlier this month, North Korean state media publicly disclosed details of its uranium enrichment facility for the first time in the form of leader Kim Jong-un’s visit there, but it did not disclose the location of the facility or date of Kim’s visit.
As to the facility’s location, the NIS said it is likely to be the Kangson nuclear complex near Pyongyang, though it is hard to give a definite answer.
The agency said the North’s test launch of new tactical ballistic missiles on Sept. 18 was aimed at verifying its precision strike capability. One of the two missiles fired successfully reached the target, the NIS said, calling it a “slight improvement from the past.”
Returnees to Sudan city gripped by indiscriminate shelling, hunger, and diseases
Khartoum, Sep 26 (IANS) The Karari locality of Omdurman city, north of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, has regained some vibrancy after a fierce battle in March that expelled the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from the old neighbourhoods, expanding the control of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to the south.
Overcrowded markets and therapeutic activities such as masquerade parties and puppet theaters – the routines of life – have started to reemerge in the locality, which hosts more than 160 shelter centres packed with displaced Sudanese.
However, the returnees have never felt rest assured amid the hustle-bustle, as they are still subjected to random artillery shelling from time to time.
On Monday, at least 15 people were killed and 61 others injured in an artillery attack by the RSF on the crowded Sabreen civilian market in Karari. The death toll could be higher as the local rescue team was unable to reach some victims.
“This is the reality now. We are trying to live with the situation, but we are afraid to give up and flee again,” said Mahmoud Satti, a teacher who returned to Omdurman after a year-long displacement journey in central Sudan.
“What happened in Sabreen market was very tragic. People here are dying because of random shelling,” Satti told Xinhua news agency.
He urged government authorities to protect the returnees, address the security gap, and provide necessary services to Omdurman’s residents.
“There are no food shops amid a great shortage of goods, while prices for what is available are very high,” said Saadan Omer, a citizen from Omdurman.
Most people live on aid from their relatives abroad, and Takias — sanctuaries for the impoverished and needy set up by Sudanese activists and volunteers — remain as the primary source of food supply for Omdurman’s residents, he said.
“There is a significant spread of diseases amid a great shortage in medicines, while there are no nearby hospitals, and even those operational have been bombed and looted,” said Saeed Al-Zubair, a 49-year-old man from Omdurman.
Since the fighting between the SAF and RSF began in April last year, epidemic diseases have plagued the country, including Omdurman, leading to hundreds of deaths. The conflict has resulted in at least 20,000 deaths and displaced millions of people, according to a press release published Tuesday on the website of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said last week that an estimated 3.4 million children under five are at high risk of the deadly epidemic diseases in the country.
According to UNICEF, more than 70 percent of hospitals in conflict-affected areas are non-operational.
On Wednesday, the OCHA warned that Sudan is now facing the world’s most severe hunger crisis, with over half of its population, nearly 26 million people, suffering high levels of acute hunger.
Famine has been confirmed in North Darfur State’s Zamzam camp, with many other areas at risk, it said, adding that nearly 5 million children and pregnant and breastfeeding women have been acutely malnourished.
Meanwhile, Doctors Without Borders, an aid group, said Tuesday that 30,000 children under two were screened for malnutrition in South Darfur State in August, and 32.5 per cent of them were acutely malnourished.
In response to the dire humanitarian situation, Omdurman’s government authorities pledged to provide food for local residents and support community initiatives.
“Both official and popular efforts are ongoing to restore electricity and water services, remove war remnants, reopen roads, clean neighborhoods, and launch initiatives to bring life back to markets and shops,” Acting Minister of Social Development of Khartoum State Siddiq Hassan Freini told Xinhua.

Dubai Tycoon Purchases Island for Wife’s Bikini Bliss!
In a lavish display of affection, a Dubai-based billionaire named Jamal Al Nadak has reportedly spent a staggering $50 million to purchase a private island for his wife, Saudia Al Nadak. The island, located in Asia, was acquired primarily to provide Saudia with a secluded space where she can feel safe and comfortable wearing a bikini without any unwanted attention or judgment.
Saudia, a 26-year-old British-born influencer and housewife, shared the news of the island purchase on her Instagram account, where her video has already garnered over 2.4 million views. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Saudia revealed that acquiring the island was something her husband had been considering for a while, not only as an investment but also to ensure her safety and comfort while enjoying the beach.
The couple, who met while studying in Dubai and have been married for over three years, is known for their lavish lifestyle. Saudia’s social media accounts showcase their extravagant purchases, such as a $1 million diamond solitaire ring and $2 million worth of artwork, all in a single day. While some have criticized Saudia for “showing off” her privileged life, she maintains that she simply enjoys sharing her experiences with her followers.
Despite the hefty price tag and the couple’s wealth, the exact location of the island remains undisclosed for privacy and safety reasons. Saudia’s video and interview have sparked a mix of reactions, with some expressing admiration for Jamal’s gesture and others questioning the authenticity of the claims. Hidden Dangers of Work Pressure: A Wake-Up Call for Employers!
Renowned doctor Sudhir Kumar has shed light on the alarming trend of work-related stress affecting employees, particularly those aged 20 to 40. Many individuals in this age group are experiencing a range of health issues, including headaches, insomnia, neck and back pain, and various mental health problems. Dr. Kumar reports that a staggering 90% of employees acknowledge feeling significant stress in their workplaces, which not only hampers their performance but also diminishes their overall happiness. To combat this growing concern, he emphasizes the importance of implementing structured holidays and breaks to alleviate pressure.
Dr. Kumar advocates for a reevaluation of working hours in offices, recommending that they should not exceed 48 to 55 hours per week. Exceeding these limits can lead to severe health risks, including heart attacks and premature death. He suggests that every company should employ psychologists and counselors to prioritize the mental health of their employees. By fostering an environment that supports psychological well-being, companies can mitigate the adverse effects of stress and create a more productive workforce.
In addition to professional support, Dr. Kumar encourages employees to adopt personal wellness strategies to manage stress effectively. Techniques such as meditation, breathing exercises, yoga, healthy eating, and ensuring adequate sleep are crucial in combating the negative impacts of workplace stress. These practices not only promote physical health but also enhance mental resilience, enabling employees to navigate the pressures of their jobs more effectively.
As organizations increasingly recognize the importance of employee well-being, implementing Dr. Kumar’s suggestions could lead to healthier work environments. By prioritizing mental health and providing adequate support systems, companies can help reduce stress levels among employees, ultimately leading to improved job satisfaction and productivity. The call for action is clear: addressing work-related stress is essential for the well-being of both individuals and organizations as a whole.

Devara Faces Challenges in Tamil Nadu: A Balancing Act
The highly anticipated Tamil film Devara, starring Jr. NTR and directed by Koratala Siva, is currently facing significant hurdles in securing a sufficient number of theaters in Tamil Nadu. This is primarily due to a lukewarm reception for its trailer, which has failed to generate the expected enthusiasm among Tamil audiences. The film’s content and execution have been criticized by many, raising concerns about its ability to attract viewers in a competitive market dominated by local films.
Adding to the controversy surrounding Devara is a recent allegation from renowned director S. Shankar. He has accused the film’s team of borrowing key scenes from his upcoming adaptation of the Tamil novel Velpari. Although Shankar did not explicitly name Devara or the other upcoming film Kanguva, many netizens speculate that his comments were directed at Devara. This allegation has sparked a heated debate online, with some defending Devara while others express concerns over potential copyright infringements. The situation has created a cloud of uncertainty over the film’s release strategy and public perception.
Meanwhile, Karthi’s film Meiyazhagan is also set for release in Tamil Nadu. Despite running low on buzz, Meiyazhagan enjoys a significant fan base in the state compared to Jr. NTR, ensuring a greater demand for theaters. Interestingly, distributors in Tamil Nadu have expressed a preference for Meiyazhagan over Devara, further limiting the number of screens available for Devara. This poses a major challenge for the film’s success in the state.
The absence of Devara’s producer from promotional activities has added to the speculation surrounding the project’s stability. This lack of visibility may contribute to doubts regarding the film’s marketing effectiveness and its ability to draw audiences into theaters. As the release date approaches, it is crucial for the filmmakers to address these issues effectively to maximize their chances of success at the box office.
