Indians Buying More & More Properties In Greece!
Snapping up opportunities is what Indians do the best and that is the reason why Indian investors started buying properties in Greece for record prizes. As soon as they saw that the minimum investment is going to be doubled, the Indians made a lot of real estate purchases ahead of Greece’s Golden Visa Programme.
The buyers bought permanent residences and the purchases in the European Union nation saw a rise of 37% from July to August. Before the amendments, Indians could make an investment with a minimum of 250,000 euros while the minimum investment became 800,000 dollars in Tier 1 cities like Athens, Thessaloniki, Mykonos, and Santorini.
Greece’s finance minister Kostis Hatzidakis said, “The government hopes this will encourage investment in less crowded areas while addressing local housing needs.” Sanjay Sachdev, Global Marketing Director of Leptos Estates claims, “We saw a rush of Indian homebuyers in recent months, to the point where we sold out our available residential stock in Greece. Many investors purchased under-construction projects with handover periods of six-twelve months.”
Canada’s New Move: Big blow to Indian students
In a significant policy shift, Canada has announced a major reduction in the number of student visas it will grant over the next two years. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revealed on social media platform X that Canada will issue 35% fewer international student permits this year, with an additional 10% cut planned for 2025.
This decision aims to curb the growing number of temporary residents in the country, as Trudeau emphasized, “Immigration is an advantage for our economy – but when bad actors abuse the system and take advantage of students, we crack down.” This new rule will profoundly impact Indian students, who have traditionally viewed Canada as a top destination for higher education.
Official data shows that Canada approved 509,390 student permits in 2023 and 175,920 in the first seven months of 2024. With these restrictions, the number of student permits is expected to decrease to approximately 437,000 in 2025. According to the Indian government, around 4.27 lakh Indian students are currently studying in Canada out of a total of 13.35 lakh studying abroad.
The reduction in Canadian student visas comes at a time when other countries are also shifting their immigration policies. The United States remains the most popular destination for Indian students, with about 4.5 lakh enrolled in various institutions, followed by Australia and the United Kingdom.

Hyderabad, India – September 21, 2024: To commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of legendary actor ANR, a renowned figure in Indian cinema, Annapurna Studios, in collaboration with the Film Heritage Foundation, NHAI, and NDFC, has launched a nationwide initiative, “ANR100: King of Silver Screen.” This event aims to celebrate ANR’s significant contribution to the Indian film industry through the screening of his iconic films in 31 cities across India.

Murali Mohan recalled watching ANR films in his childhood and his desire to obtain an autograph. He expressed gratitude for the long association with his idol and his family.
Akkineni Nagarjuna, representing the Akkineni family, thanked senior fans for organizing blood donation camps across the state. He also announced that the ANR award for ANR’s centenary year had been conferred upon Megastar Chiranjeevi, with Amitabh Bachchan scheduled to present the award on October 28th.
Prior to the event, the Akkineni family celebrated ANR’s 100th birthday at Annapurna Studios by garlanding his statue and inviting 600 senior fans. They shared a meal with the fans and presented them with gifts as a token of appreciation for their unwavering support.
