Paul facing arrest threat in murder case!

It has been a long time since one has heard about maverick evangelist and Praja Shanti Party president K A Paul.

Paul, who used to be in the news every day before the recent assembly elections claiming that he was going to come to power with Lord’s blessings, vanished from the scene after that. Now, nobody is talking about him.

On Monday, however, the evangelist was back in the news, of course for wrong reasons.

A local court in Mahbubnagar in Telangana issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Paul in connection with the murder of his elder brother David Raju.

Paul was one of the nine accused in the case, but has not been attending the trial in the case in the Mahbubnagar court, though all the remaining eight were present for the hearing.

Angered at this, Mahabubnagar seventh additional district judge Ajit Simha issued the non-bailable arrest warrant against Paul.

Paul’s brother David Raju found murdered in suspicious circumstances in February 2010 in a stationary car parked on the roadside at Kommireddypalli of Mahbubnagar district. The case was transferred from munsif magistrate court to the district court.

According to public prosecutor Puttapaga Raghupathi, the non-bailable warrant would be served on Paul for evading the trial.

“The case was posted to September 20 and if he does not appear in the court by then, he would be arrested,” the prosecutor said.
