It is known that the Central government announced 100% disinvestment of government holdings in Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of the Vizag Steel Plant. All the political parties in Andhra Pradesh have opposed this move and worker unions, formed under the Committee for conservation of Visakha Steel, have intensified agitations, asking the Centre to reconsider the privatisation of the plant.
Now, Pawan Kalyan, whose Jana Sena Party is in an alliance with the BJP, is set to participate in the protest and support workers’ struggle on 31st October.
The Committee for conservation of Visakha Steel appealed to PSPK to support their fight against privatization. To that end, on the 31st, Pawan Kalyan will reach Visakhapatnam and attend a meeting organized by the representatives of the conservation committee. The meeting will begin at 2 pm on the 31st of this month.
Apparently, Pawan Kalyan was the first leader from Andhra Pradesh to respond to this issue and bring it to the attention of the Central Government. On February 9, the Janasenani informed the Center that the Visakhapatnam steel plant was emotionally involved and requested that the decision be reconsidered.
