The letter that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote to the Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde, in which criticised Justice NV Ramana, has become quite the controversy in India. The Judiciary has taken a stand against Jagan in this matter, and has heavily criticised his letter as well.
Now, in another shocking turn of events, Borugadda Anil Kumar, a social activist and working president of the Republican Party of India, Andhra Pradesh unit, filed a Public Interest Litigation against NV Ramana, in which he has requested the CJI to not let NV Ramana be the CJi until he is cleared of all the charges he has been accused of, by the ACB.
This PIL comes in the wake of the criminal case filed against Ramana’s family members, in the Amaravati land disputes, which are still being investigated. Anil has also requested the Supreme Court to issue a writ of prohibition and a writ of quo warranto against Justice Ramana, so that he would not be discharging his judicial functions till he is cleared of the cases.
Anil Kumar also questioned the reason behind the current CJI not taking any action against the letter written by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, and even expressed his grief in the same matter.
