Our neighbourhood state Tamil Nadu is known for branding politics. Current chief minister Jayalalithaa has many brands that endorse her. Now, she is at weddings too, right on the foreheads of couples who are marrying.
Celebrations to mark Jayalalithaa’s 68th birthday, which falls on February 24, have already begun in Tamil Nadu. AIADMK cadre conducted 68 marriages in Udumalaipettai in Coimbatore on Friday, to mark the special eve.
While Jayalalithaa was not present in person to bless the newlywed couples, the party cadre made sure Amma would supervise the weddings in the form of bands of her picture, that couples wore right on their foreheads.
The long list of Amma-branded products and services include, canteens, cements, medical shops, water bottles, tea, school bags, food material and now weddings, has made sure that Amma is everywhere in Tamil Nadu.
