After reviewing the data submitted over the safety offered by the vaccines developed by two Indian pharma firms the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) approved two vaccines for emergency use.
The DCGI gave its nod for the vaccines developed by Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech for emergency use of vaccines in India with some restrictions.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian pharma companies for getting approval for the vaccines from the DCGI.In a series of tweets, Narendra Modi congratulated the hard work of scientists and innovators and called the vaccine approval as a decisive turning point. He also thanked the frontline workers, sanitation workers, and all Corona warriors

As the DCGI approved the vaccines developed by two pharma companies, the vaccine is expected to roll out very soon. In the first phase, the centre is aiming to vaccinate 3 crore Indians.Out of the three crore beneficiaries, one crore healthcare workers will be vaccinated, while the other 2 crore beneficiaries will be frontline workers. The vaccine drive is expected to start soon.
