In wake of the student and unemployed rally, police have deployed huge forces at the residence of Telangana PCC president Revanth Reddy in Jubilee Hills, in order to stop him from attending the rally.
It is learned that the Congress party has called for this special program on the issues of student and unemployment in the state. Police said the rally was not allowed on the Dilsukhnagar- LB Nagar route as there would be a traffic jam. Strict measures were taken not to organise the rally. However, Revanth announced that the rally would be held anyway. He called on the Congress leaders to reach Dilsukhnagar by 4 pm and not to fear lathi charges.
As the Congress activists were getting ready to reach Dilsukhnagar, more than 100 policemen were deployed at his residence to prevent Revanth from going there.
On the other hand, police were also heavily deployed at Dilsukhnagar. Several Congress activists have already been arrested. Dilsukhnagar metro station was closed by authorities.
Police placed several Congress leaders under house arrest in the wake of the rally. Mulugu MLA Seethakka was arrested at the MLA quarters in Hyderabad. Some leaders, including MLC Jeevan Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, were arrested in advance.
