It looks like former Union minister and Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha leader Daggubati Purandeshwari has decided against quitting the party and joining the YSR Congress party.
She wants to continue in the BJP, but has decided to send her husband Daggubati Venkateshwar Rao and son Hitesh Chenchuram into the YSRC.
It is learnt YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy has already decided to finalise the candidature of Hitesh for Parchur assembly seat in Prakasam district.
The appearance of Hitesh’s photographs on the flex boards in Ongole did not surprise many, but what surprised them was the picture of Daggubati Venkateshwar Rao.
It is learnt YSRCP MP V Vijayasai Reddy played a crucial role in bringing the father and son into the YSRC. Apparently, Venkateshwar Rao will be given a key post in the party.
While Purandeshwari will remain in the BJP for some time, hoping that she might get nomination to Rajya Sabha from some state shortly.
If the party fares badly in the next Lok Sabha elections, she can take a decision on joining the YSRC at a later stage, say sources.
Venkateshwar Rao, eldest son-in-law of former CM, late N.T Rama Rao. He shifted loyalties from Telugu Desam Party to Congress in 2004 along with his wife Purandeswari.
He was elected as MLA from Congress ticket in 2004 and 2009 assembly elections respectively. After 2014, he went into a virtual political hibernation.
