The Kabir Khan Directorial about 1983 World Cup Indian Cricket Team is being produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri Founder of Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) and Phantom Films.
Ranveer Singh riding high on Padmavathi will play another real-life character of the legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in one of his upcoming films based on 1983 world cup being directed by Kabir Khan which will go on floor during mid-2018. Kabir Khan recalls that he’s watched this memorable match as young schoolboy. “I had no idea then that from that day on cricket in India would change forever. As a film-maker, the journey to that win, filled with the raw energy and sheer passion of a young Indian team, is probably one of the most exciting stories I have worked on. It’s great to have Ranveer come on board as Kapil Dev, as honestly I could see no one else in the role since I started working on the script,” says Kabir.
The 1983 world cup is also remembered for the remarkable 175 not out scored by Kapil Dev in a do or die match against Zimbabwe and the final was low scoring game where India was defending 183 runs in 60 overs against the might West Indies.
Vishnu Vardhan Induri founder of Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) and Vibri Media, who is co-producing this incredible journey of Team India is excited to have both Kabir and Ranveer on board. “With his energy and passion, we feel that Ranveer I a perfect fit to play Kapil Dev, one of the greatest sporting legends India has ever produced,” he exults. VikramadityaMotwane of Phantom Films seconds him saying it’s not easy taking on the mantle of Kapil Dev. “If any actor can do it, it’s Ranveer,” he asserts.
This movie is a story about a team which went as underdogs and conquered the cup, the casting for the other players is in progress. This is being made in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
If Sources are to be believed, Vishnu is the one who came of with the Idea of NTR Biopic two years ago and he will be producing NTR Biopic with Balakrishna.
