Well some might say ‘what’s in a name?’ But looks like the makers of Boom, Ayesha Shroff and Kaizad Gustad did think about it quite a bit before coming to the decision of changing Katrina’s surname to Kaif.
Incidentally, Katrina was born Katrina Turquotte due to her mixed lineage. Since Turquotte was and is not an easy name to pronounce, they decided it would be best if her name was changed to Kaif.
In fact, Kaif happens to be the name of her father. And if you thought the story was over, well, here’s the last bit. Apparently, Ayesha and Kaizad wanted to name her Katrina Kazi.
But around 2003, cricketer Mohammed Kaif was very popular and they finally decided on naming her Katrina Kaif. Goes without saying, the name worked wonders for Katrina’s career.
