The situation of Coronavirus in the state of Telangana is becoming worse by the day, with more and more people testing positive, and a few others succumbing to the deadly virus. While governments of other states are trying their best to control the spread of the virus by conducting enough tests, the government of Telangana has mostly been absent in action.
Chief Minister KCR hasn’t once addressed the public after a sudden spike in the number of cases, and he hasn’t even responded to the situation in the state. The number of Coronavirus cases being conducted in the state are also very meagre, well below 5,000. When Coronavirus first started out in India, and in Telangana, the Chief Minister announced the construction of a 1,500 bed, state of the art hospital to combat Coronavirus in the state, Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (TIMS).
However, three months down the lane, the entire concept has been forgotten about, and nothing else has been said about TIMS yet. On the other hand, the government of Telangana is now going ahead with the demolition of the secretariat, and the re-construction of it, against a budget of Rs 1,200 Crores.
The demolition of the old secretariat building started last night, and the construction of the new, more ‘Vastu’ oriented one is expected to be over within a year’s span.
It is certainly a most confusing and distressing step taken by the government of Telangana, to prioritise the construction of the secretariat building over the handling of Coronavirus in the state. A lot of negativity is surrounding the Chief Minister on social media, for misplaced priorities.
It is high time the state government realizes it faults and steps into action before the entire state succumbs to Coronavirus.
