Late actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao attained legendary status for himself in the Telugu film industry. Others stand behind him on the list of legendary actors. He later founded the Telugu Desam Party and achieved what others could not by crushing the grand old Congress party in just nine months. Though he lost the next elections, he came to power in the next elections.
He created rare recognition as he became the state’s Chief Minister from an actor. Though he lost his power with political consequences, his legacy will stay forever as a person who fought for the identity of the Telugu people. There is a criticism that says that he was not given Bharat Ratna award though he should get it as the Congress party did not grant him the award as he was against the party.
Now the union government is gearing up to give a special honour to NTR after a very long time. The Union Government and Reserve Bank Of India agreed to print NTR’s picture of a 100 rupees coin. It is said that the concerned officers met Bharatiya Janata Party leader, NTR’s daughter Purandeswari especially to show the sample of the picture. Reports say that Purandeswari also gave her nod to the sample. The Reserve Bank releases coins with pictures of famous personalities to honour them.
We have to see the decision of printing senior NTR’s picture on a Rs 100 coin as a great one. Even when the Telugu Desam Party was in power no efforts were made to bring recognition to NTR at the national level.
Surprisingly, the union government gave its nod to print NTR’s picture as his daughter Daggubati Purandeswari is a part of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Due to her efforts, this is believed to have happened.
The Bharatiya Janata Party is taking the name of the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao of late. The party leaders are showering praises on him whenever there is any chance. It has to be mentioned here that recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the example of Congress toppling the government of NTR in Parliament.
