YS Sharmila, the daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, launched her political party in Telangana recently, on July 8th, on the occasion of her father’s birthday.
Speaking at a press event conducted today, at her residence in Hyderabad’s Lotus Pond, Sharmila said that YSR was never against Telangana, and said that it was he who included Telangana in the UPA’s manifesto. Sharmila also said that the people of Telangana were always close to YSR’s heart. Sharmila clarified that she didn’t establish a party in Telangana because she’s upset with her brother Jagan like KCR is propagating. She said that KCR and TRS do not respect women and that they are people who think that women are restricted to doing poojas and keeping vrats for what they want. She said that this is exactly what she was doing for the unemployed youth of the state.
Sharmila said that she and her brother Jagan represent two different areas and that they are bound to those areas. She clarified that she established a party in Telangana to bring about the golden rule of YSR and because KCR has failed utterly as a CM. Sharmila said that she respects KCR immensely, as an activist, but when it comes to ruling the state, he’s a dictator. She said that a party is a system, a group of people, and not a single person. Sharmila stated that this is how her party would be, as her party would continue to exist and function, with or without her. Sharmila also commented about the Huzurabad by-polls, saying that these by-polls are all about revenge for the TRS. Sharmila concluded by saying that she too would start her padayatra from Chevella, like her father.
