Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had targeted the union government over the vaccination drive. The Parliamentarian batted for the demand to vaccinate Indians for free of cost against the ongoing pandemic.
In a video posted on Twitter, Shashi Tharoor said, the anti-Covid vaccines should be made free to save the country from Covid.
Tharoor questioned, how can the government vaccinate the entire population of the country by the end of December, as the vaccines are not available. How can the government achieve this, he questioned.
“It is unacceptable that this government should be demanding that states, private hospitals and others compete in some sort of market free for all to buy vaccines at different prices, extortionate prices in some cases, when the central government has an arrangement to buy vaccines at affordable prices and give them to the public for free. That was the policy at the beginning of the vaccination drive, ” Shashi Tharoor said.
The MP was infected with the virus earlier in April and admitted to a private hospital in the national capital Delhi. He is suffering from Covid complications. He said, he made the video from the sickbed, as he doesn’t want the fellow citizens to suffer.
