It’s a trend to celebrate New Year in hostels, residential intermediate hostels, top engineering and medical coaching centres. Usually, special parties will be organized and invites few orchestra or choir of singers and towards the end of the event, they cut cakes and celebrate inside hostels.
Contrary to it, few coaching centres in and around Hyderabad has given up this trend and called off all the party events. Now, the latest is that on the New Year and festival eve, they showcase just released movie inside hostels for recreation of students. On Dec 31, 2014, few top colleges in Hyderabad have shown Mukunda, Chinnnadana Neekosam and PK shows to their students at their hostels.
It is learnt that movies screened are piracy DVD copies and what’s shocking is that top educational institutions are encouraging the piracy while the movies are still running in theatres. We hear that colleges adopting this technique in order to reduce the outings of students to go out and watch movies in theatres and thus save their time so that students could focus more on their studies.
But this in turn is making a habit for students to watch piracy copies causing severe damage to film industry and its allied industries. It’s high-time educational institutions should reconcile and stop such acts.
