The Andhra Pradesh political arena is a highly interesting one, with new developments taking place every single day, and sometimes, each and every hour. Almost every dispute, political or otherwise, always ends up in courts, and when it ends up in the High Court, it’s often the AP government that takes the brunt of the case.
The latest political developments to place in AP actually took place in the CBI court, where the lawyers representing Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy made some shocking statements. They said that Jagan’s name should be removed from all of the illegal assets cases, in which his name is involved. They even filed a discharge petition in the CBI court, requesting for the removal of Jagan’s name from all of those cases, and even went on to accuse MP Vijay Sai Reddy. They said that it was Vijay Sai Reddy that was the main perpetrator in all of these cases and that Jagan had nothing to do with it.
Fact is, Vijay Sai became an MP of the Rajya Sabha with the CM’s blessings, and he works as the de facto Chief Minister for the North Andhra region. The CBI court allowed for these choking arguments to be made, despite all of these facts, making one wonder why they put up with such illogical arguments.
However, it cannot be denied that the Centre has a major part to play with the CBI’s decisions and the CBI lawyers’ decisions. And given that the YSRCP has a good relationship with the Central government, it should come as no surprise that the CM’s lawyers were allowed to argue as freely as they did.
