Shourya had an ensemble star cast, a decent director and the trailer seemed promising. Film circles believed that Manchu Manoj had a winner on hands.
On paper Shourya should have appeared more than promising as it had an intriguing premise, but sadly Dasaradh and his team of writers couldn’t make a good film out of it.
As per trade estimates, Shourya is made on a budget of 10 crore including Manoj, Regina and Prakash Raj’s paychecks.
Producer was very confident about the film that he has released it on his own in major areas. He didn’t even try to close the deal for satellite rights prior to the release as he believed that it would fetch good price once it turns out to be a super hit.
Apart from nominal advances he got from few buyers, producer released Shourya at his own risk, said trade sources.
The film ended up as a colossal flop leaving the producer in dire straits. He would lose nothing less than 6 crore on this film, they told. Manoj’s films generally get decent opening but Shourya failed to take off.
Surprisingly it has got very low opening compared to its competitors that were released on the same day. Kalyana Vaibhogame which opened to favorable reviews didn’t let Shourya to pick up.
After Speedunnodu and Krishnashtami, this is yet another huge failure in the last few weeks.
