Riding high on the success of “Tillu Square,” Telugu star Siddu Jonnalagadda is a hot commodity in Tollywood. The film’s impressive box office performance, exceeding 125 crores, has cemented his status as a bankable star. This newfound popularity has producers scrambling to secure his dates for upcoming projects, with many offering hefty advances. Several renowned directors are also eager to collaborate with Jonnalagadda.
Known for his meticulous script selection, Jonnalagadda meticulously focused on “Tillu Square” following the success of “DJ Tillu.” After a brief hiatus, he committed to “Jack” directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar and “Telusu Kada” directed by Neeraja Kona, both currently under production.
Following the phenomenal response to “Tillu Square,” Jonnalagadda reportedly received a plethora of project proposals. Among them, he has seemingly greenlit a script by director Venky Atluri. Atluri, known for his romantic films like “Tholi Prema,” “Mr. Majnu,” and “Rang De,” recently ventured into message-oriented cinema with Dhanush’s “Sir” last year. He is currently directing Dulquer Salman in “Lucky Bhaskar.”
Industry sources speculate that Jonnalagadda and Atluri’s potential collaboration will commence after the release of “Lucky Bhaskar.” The project is expected to roll after Jonnalagadda completes his existing commitments in “Jack” and “Telusu Kada.”
Interestingly, both “DJ Tillu” and “Tillu Square” were produced under the banner of Sithara Entertainments. Atluri too collaborated with the same production house for “Rang De” and “Sir.” This existing association between the director and producer might pave the way for a smooth collaboration with Jonnalagadda, with Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments potentially bankrolling the project.
While official confirmation is awaited, the prospect of Jonnalagadda and Atluri joining forces has generated significant buzz in Tollywood. Jonnalagadda’s comedic prowess combined with Atluri’s storytelling ability has the potential to be a winning formula.
